A.C.T Reading of "8"
I'm sitting in a coffee shop in Norfolk, VA right now getting ready to unveil a new civil rights speech at ODU. Nerves mounting, I thought I'd take a break to let folks know that next weekend I'll have the pleasure of being back in the city that most feels like home: San Francisco! I'd like to say it will be a vacation (I need one), but as always, there's work involved. The American Conservatory Theater is doing a reading of "8" and for the first time, I'm going to be in it, on stage, ACTING! I will be playing the part of Ryan Kendall played by Rory O'Malley on Broadway and Chris Colfer in Los Angeles. Their performances were brilliant and moving, mine will be more "butterflies in the stomach." I haven't seen an audience from this angle in almost two decades.
Also joining me on the stage are Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters) my old pal and long time LGBT activist Cleve Jones and my new friend and Speaker of the Assembly John A. Perez!
So if you see me tapping away on my computer keyboard at Spike's Coffee in the Castro next weekend, come by and wish me good luck, or a broken leg.
